Pre-cut, class-legal sail numbers for the ILCA 4 (formerly Laser 4.7), sold one digit at a time so you can build any sail number. Available in red, black or blue, in 230 mm (9″) and 300 mm (12″) heights.

Which size do I need?

  • 230 mm (9″) – the ILCA 4 class size. ILCA rules set a minimum digit height of 220 mm (maximum 240 mm), a minimum width of 150 mm (except the digit 1) and a minimum stroke thickness of 30 mm.
  • 300 mm (12″) – the size used on ILCA 6 (Radial) and ILCA 7 (Standard) sails. Choose this if you are numbering a bigger rig.

Features

  • Euro-style block digits, cut to size – no tracing or trimming
  • Bold, high-contrast red, black or blue for easy reading on the start and finish line
  • Sold per digit, so you only buy the numbers you need

How many do I need?

Sail numbers go on both sides of the sail, with the starboard-side numbers placed higher. Count each digit in your sail number and order two of each. For example, sail number 2471 needs two each of 2, 4, 7 and 1 – eight digits in total. If you also sail an ILCA 6 or ILCA 7 rig, order a separate set in 300 mm for that sail.

Applying your numbers

  • Work on a clean, dry sail laid flat on a smooth surface
  • Pencil a straight base line first and keep even spacing between digits
  • Rub each digit down firmly from the centre outwards to remove air bubbles
  • Check the current ILCA class rules and number positioning guide before you apply
